Bulk cargo is the biggest highlight of railway transportation in the previous August. In August, Shaanxi coal and Xinjiang coal transportation continued to increase. The total coal transportation volume reached 138 million tons, an increase of 8.9%. Since the beginning of this year, Xinjiang Coal Transportation has completed 34.7 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 46%. In August, the volume of commercial vehicles and cold chain logistics increased by 45% and 74% respectively.
In fact, under the stimulus of the transportation of bulk cargo roads to the railway transportation, the national railway freight volume target was adjusted again. China Railway Corporation recently released the "Incremental Action Plan for Freight Transport from 2018 to 2020", showing that by 2020, the national railway freight volume will increase by 30% compared with 2017, that is, to reach 4.796 billion tons.
In the first half of 2018, China Railway Corporation's total transportation revenue totaled 361.879 billion yuan, an increase of 7.12% year-on-year. Among them, freight revenue was 142.633 billion yuan, an increase of 10.31% year-on-year; passenger revenue was 169.279 billion yuan, an increase of 10.13% year-on-year. If the construction fund is included, the total freight revenue has reached 169.609 billion yuan, which is equal to the passenger income. The strong growth of freight volume has increased the demand for railway wagons and locomotives. According to the total number of people in China Railway Corporation, China Railway Corporation plans to purchase 216,000 new trucks and 3,756 locomotives in the next three years. Among them, 40,000 trucks and 188 locomotives were purchased in 2018; 78,000 trucks and 1,564 locomotives were purchased in 2019; 98,000 trucks and 2004 locomotives were purchased in 2020.
